Dr. Cavezza retired from the United States Army in October 1994, at the rank of Lieutenant General. During his service he had two tours of duty in Vietnam, commanded the 7th Infantry Division (Light) during Operation Just Cause in Panama, commanded three military installations: Fort Ord, CA, Fort Benning, GA, and Fort Lewis, WA, and served as the Chief of Infantry.

Upon his retirement he served as the Executive Director of Columbus '96, a non-profit organization, established to support the 1996 Olympic Softball competition, which subsequently became the Greater Columbus Sports and Events Council. Thereafter, he served as city manager for the Columbus Consolidated Government from May 1997, until assuming his current position as Executive Director of the Cunningham Center for Leadership Development in January 2005.

Ed has been a student of leadership development and communication throughout his career. He joined Columbus State University as Adjunct Professor of Philosophy in 2002. In 2004, in addition to his teaching duties, he began serving as a consultant with the CSU Leadership Institute, where he became instrumental in promoting the Institute. In May, 2005, he assumed his current position as Director of the Leadership Institute at the Cunningham Center for Leadership

Development. He has served on a number of Boards and Committees in Columbus including The American Cancer Society, The United Way, and Partners In Education. Presently he serves on the Institutional Review Board of the Columbus Regional Healthcare System. Ed is also an alumnus of Leadership Columbus.

Ed is certified by the Center for Creative Leadership to facilitate the following CCL® assessment for development tools: Benchmarks®, SKILLSCOPE®, Prospector®, 360 BY DESIGN®, Executive Dimensions®, and KEYS®.
Susan Miller Susan Miller

Susan joined the University System of Georgia in 1999 and most recently served as Area Director of the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center. Prior to her association with the SBDC, she was with SouthTrust Bank where she served as Public Relations Officer and later as Vice President of Business Banking. She was an adjunct professor of Marketing at the University of Alabama ( Huntsville ) from 1983 until 1989, and has held the position of Vice President of Small Business at the Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce. She currently writes a weekly business column for the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, a McClatchy Publication, and is a three-time national winner of the “Best in Business” Award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. Her background includes extensive experience in sales and marketing, fundraising for the arts, and commercial construction management.

Kim has 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. She has worked for Hilton and Hyatt hotels in food & beverage management, as a concierge, and in sales. Kim worked for several years as a Travel Agent & Group Tour Coordinator for domestic & international tours to over 11 countries. She also was Director of Tourism for the Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau before becoming Director of Sales for the company. Since 2001, Kim was Director of Rankin Events & Housing in Uptown Columbus. Kim is pleased to be a part of the Cunningham Center team as Director of Events & Marketing.

Shana joined Columbus State University as an Assistant Professor of Communication in 2004. Prior to returning to academia full time she worked as a Corporate Trainer for Vital Processing Services now known as TSYS Acquiring. Her background includes broad knowledge in the field of communication, public speaking, training and development and instruction through different mediums. Shana is a member of National, Southern States and Georgia Communication Associations as well as the American Association of University Women. She is pleased to be a part of the Leadership Institute as its Assistant Director.

Senior Administrator Assistant

Libby majored in education and accounting at Kennesaw State University, Frances Marion University, and is currently enrolled in Columbus State University's Turner College of Business. She brings over 20 years of experience in the banking, publishing, and educational areas to her position as senior administration assistant. Since returning to Columbus in 2002 and prior to her position with CCLD, she served as Business Manager and Facilities Coordinator at the Schwob School of Music at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.

Born and raised in Ohio, Thom moved to Columbus GA in 1993. He comes to CCLD with 34 Years of hospitality service. Some of his past position achievements include, Marriott Hotels, Shaker Heights Country Club, Green Island Country Club. Along with his expertise in Communications and Technical Theatre, Thom brings a wealth of knowledge to the table as he manages the facility, handles relations with caterers (and other event-oriented partners), and oversees the details of making CCLD aesthetically match the mantra, “Excellence Begins Here!”









Bryan-Kristopher Jackson Bryan-Kristopher Jackson
Multimedia Production Manager

Undergraduate Communications Major, Columbus State University

Joining the CCLD team as Event Coordinator and on-site Audio/Visual Specialist, Bryan has already built quite a reputation for his skills in Entertainment Production. In 2006 he founded the Future Production Leadership Collaborative, an organization of collective young talents in the greater Columbus area. He is currently a student of Columbus State University where he majors in Communications. As a student he also actively participates with the Schwob School of Music, Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity, and is a freelance Camera Operator & Multimedia Producer for the CSU Communication Department. In addition to his duties at CCLD, he has partnered with fellow student Michael Robertson to create Showcase Productions Unlimited, an independent video/motion picture production company. Bryan is always ready and equipped to assist clients and guests with any technical needs that may arise.
